This past September 30th, 2018, Ellev Ad Agency – www.ellev.com was the proud sponsor of the first Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in Charleston, SC. We had around 125 participants sign up, and had about 70 vintages bikes in the ride! We also raised around $16,000 for men’s prostate and mental health for the DGR foundation! For the event, we had lot’s of amazing riders and bikes with the motorcycles ranging from vintage BMWs and Triumphs to Nortons, Harleys, and more! Also, we’d like to thank everyone who participated and contributed to the event such as Champion Honda, BMW, Ducati and Black Giraffe Customs. We, at Ellev Advertising Agency – ellev.arqsoftware.com, were very honored and excited when the 21st Group came to us and our creative director/photographer, Clifton Parker, for their Macy’s New York Fashion Week ad campaign featuring Swarovski Crystals. Both Macy’s and Swarovski Crystals are legends in the apparel industry, so we couldn’t wait to get started working with them!
As you know, New York Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion events in the world. Designers, styles, and trends are made or broken during this one week of fashion shows, insider events, after parties, and more. Ellev Advertising Agency and our creative director, Clifton Parker, were chosen to help launch the ad campaign for a new line of jewelry by the 21st Group that featured Swarovski Crystals and were to be exclusively carried and sold by Macy’s. This ad campaign was going to be plastered all around Manhattan on billboards, magazines, posters, and more. It was going to be a full media blitz for fashion week featuring our work! We were elated!
We sat done with the creative team at 21st Group and came up with the concept of “Lost Jewels” as if someone was wearing the necklace while running around Manhattan and then lost their coveted jewels in the chaos that is Fashion Week, only for someone else to find. A very, big city concept, but was else do you expect for New York City Fashion Week!
So at this point the challenge that Ellev’s team faced was conveying this in a very sexy, exciting way while accentuating the look of the Swarovski Crystals and the necklace design. Our creative team decided that the perfect place to execute this photo shoot for this ad layout would be nowhere other than Prospect Park just over the bridge in Brooklyn. We decided we would go for a daytime photo and a nighttime photograph so that we covered both.
The daytime shot was a rather straight forward layout which consisted of finding the best location to set up the lighting and stage the jewelry for the shot. With that said, our production crew scoured the park looking for just the right spot to set up and place the jewelry for the shot. After searching for a good hour the perfect place was found! So we set up the shot, did numerous different angles, lighting, and product placement to ensure the perfect results. And viola’, they were achieved! On to the next shot!
The night time photo was going to be much more challenging for numerous reasons. One, it was night time in downtown Brooklyn. We had a lighting crew, and prop team, assistants, digital techs, and more. It certainly wasn’t what you would call, low key. Also trying to light at night time and capture the correct ambiance is not an easy task. It takes quite a bit of work with the light settings as well as the camera settings. It was no simple task. With that said, we once again scoured the park for the perfect location and waited for night to fall.
Once night arrived we started with the process of shooting test shots, adjusting lights, adjusting camera settings, prop adjusting, etc. etc. etc. To achieve the look that we wanted for the photo we used several lights with colored gels to achieve that NYC street life look. We also used pin lights to simulate the headlights of the New York City cabs which run thru the city at all hours of the night. Lastly, we had to set the cameras shutter to about 3-5 seconds of open shutter allow enough light in and to capture the motion of the lights. Needless to say, there were many, many test shots before we achieved our “keepers.”
In the end our goal was achieved and the clients were happy with the results. The ad was plastered all over Manhattan, in magazine spreads, billboards, and anywhere else you could possibly think of! When it comes to designing websites, it can be very challenging sometimes to make informative websites exciting. This was one of the challenges we had when the renown CPA firm of Parker, Hunter & Spivey came to Ellev for their new web design. We wanted to take the approach to keep the website design clean, but yet informative without making it too cut and dry. Also, we wanted to feature photos of the partners as staff as they are very well known the in Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area. So not only did we do the website design, but we also did the staff and partner photography and designed their new logo. We basically did a complete rebranding as we decided to incorporate the slogan “Myrtle Beach CPAs” in their new logo and website URL – www.myrtlebeachcpas.com
When the time came to do the company photos we chose the campus of Coastal Carolina University. There are a few reasons we chose the CCU campus to do the shoot. One is that it is a lovely campus with many scenic locations to shoot. The other is that Clark Parker is a very active member of the CCU board and recently had a building dedicated to him for the work he has done for CCU. You will see these photos featured on the homepage as well as the Staff page.
There were quite a few challenges when it came to building the rest of the site. Being that the site was for a CPA firm, there were many forms that needed to be downloadable. Also, they needed login functionality for their clients to access special forms and more. We also wanted to add an RSS tax news feed to the homepage to keep it fresh and informative. So all these elements combined made for some tricky design and programming, but of course, Ellev’s award-winning web designers had no problem getting this done!

Horry County Council on Aging is a private 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation founded in 1966 to provide senior care services throughout Horry County. At the present time, they have over 10 centers in Horry County and are constantly adding more. They are very well known for their fundraising events and assistance they provide seniors in the area. With that said, we were very pleased and flattered when they approached Ellev Advertising Agency to do their rebranding. This would consist of a new logo and building their new website. HCCOA was familiar with Ellev’s award-winning work with other non-profits in the area, such as Anderson Oaks Assisted Living and Surfrider Grand Strand. We were pleased they were admirers of our work, but we knew designing a website with so many facets would be challenging. But hey, we’re always up for a good challenge!
So with the new website design for HCCOA it would need to include a large amount of data and copy due to the immense size of the organization. We would have to incorporate the ability for viewers and patrons to donate to HCCOA, volunteer, participate in the Travel Club, as well as many other things. Keeping all this organized with a clean and concise site map for easy navigation was a must. Also, we had to keep in mind many of the sites visitors are elderly. We addressed this issue with a website plugin that would enlarge the text if needed by the viewer. We also wanted to make sure to highlight their many events and functions by placing them on the homepage so that the newest events are always easy to access. Because HCCOA is a non-profit that serves thousands of seniors throughout Horry County, we wanted to give sponsors who donate to the organization an opportunity to be highlighted on the home page as well. In order to achieve this, we set up a rotating list of sponsors that is linked back to their website, many of which have services for seniors.
With all this in mind, we still had to keep a nice, clean, and attractive design. Well guess what, not a problem! Southern Twist Cocktail Company – www.southerntwistcocktails.com – and their craft cocktail infusions have become a market staple in the bar and restaurant industry in the Southeast and throughout the rest of the United States. When it came time for the Charleston, South Carolina based company to build their new eCommerce website, they came to Ellev Advertising Agency. Rochelle Jones, creator and CEO, came to us to capture and create her vision for her craft cocktail line and continue it’s expansion through online sales and marketing.
When designing their new website, Southern Twist wanted to have a very clean design with a site that was visually luxurious but yet still easy to navigate. So with these factors in mind, we started laying out the site as well as doing the new product photos to be used for the slider design and shopping cart. We began with a clean, white, minimalist design to show off the products and images. We also had to keep in mind the functionality of the website and maximizing the eCommerce experience in order to drive viewers to convert by shopping and purchasing. So with the market for Charleston, SC web design being very competitive, we were very pleased to be chosen over all the other ad agencies for the project!
With the Southern Twist website we had a few specific goals to achieve in regards to the functionality of the interior pages. For example, the “Recipe” page needed to be a very clean and interactive design that was easy to navigate with great photography and imagery showcasing the cocktail infusions. The next challenge was the “Find Us” page. Southern Twist wanted it designed so that it would showcase the many locations that carry their cocktail infusions. So we accomplished this by designing a scrollable logo bar along with an interactive map. And lastly, Southern Twist wanted a video blog page to feature their “60 Second Bartender” which are short videos of Rochelle and other guests making specialty cocktails using the Southern Twist infusions!
So we rolled up all these features, ideas, and designs to produce one heck of a website that blows the viewer away with a very unique experience that just as unique as Southern Twist Cocktail Infusions! Very cool stuff!

The Grand Strand version of Surfrider is one of our most fun, and sometimes challenging, clients. Not challenging in a bad way, but challenging in a good way! There are so many facets, functions, and activities that are part of Surfrider Grand Strand, that they are always keeping us on our toes. We work with them in regards to web design (we won a Silver Addy for their recent website design – www.surfridergrandstrand.org), we do their social media management by taking care of all of their social media posts, event listing, etc. etc. We also take care of managing their website by adding all their events, news, blogs, and other posts. Not only do we do these things, but we also work with them in regards to helping them organize, promote, and put on their events. One of the biggest events that we assist them with is the infamous Chililympics Chili Cook-Off!
This annual event has been a staple of the Grand Strand for over 10 years and draws thousands of spectators each year in October. Ellev has helped them with every aspected of putting this event together doing artwork and graphic design, to booking and appearing on TV and radio interviews, to handling press releases, newspaper interviews, working with the talent, etc. etc. You name it, we worked on it! This was a total PR campaign and social media event! We did the social media management duties of posting, updating, events, page graphics, and more!
During our time working with Surfrider on the Chiliympics the vent grew from a few thousand to a height of almost ten thousand attendees! With Ellev’s help and guidance, the Surfrider Chili Cook-Off has grown to one of South Carolina’s biggest events. We are very proud to have been a part of these great events!
